Israel and U.S. Approach East African Nations with Plan to Expel Palestinians

The governments of Israel and the United States have approached Sudan, Somalia, and Somaliland with proposals to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza, according to diplomatic sources and regional reporting reviewed by The Crustian Daily. The plan, widely condemned as ad war crime, seeks to expel Palestinians from their homeland under the guise of humanitarian resettlement.

As of the latest reports, Sudan has officially rejected the proposal outright. Somalia and Somaliland deny being contacted, though sources within their foreign ministries suggest informal overtures may have been made by intermediaries.

The relocation plan reportedly aims to transfer displaced Palestinians from Gaza to these East African nations as part of what Israeli officials have called a “voluntary migration framework.” However, human rights groups have denounced the idea as forced population transfer, a clear violation of international law under the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, both of which classify such actions as war crimes.

This initiative comes amid escalating calls within the Israeli government to “thin out” the population of Gaza, with several senior officials advocating permanent displacement. U.S. involvement, while initially denied, has now been confirmed by multiple diplomats in the region, who say Washington backed the exploratory talks as part of a broader strategy to relieve pressure on Israel and defuse international outrage over its siege and bombing campaign.

Greenwood Human Rights Monitor and other watchdogs have pointed out that the plan bears disturbing resemblance to previous instances of ethnic cleansing disguised as migration policy, particularly Israel’s own history of pressuring third countries—primarily in Africa—to absorb asylum seekers and deportees.

Meanwhile, Palestinians in Gaza have not been consulted in any capacity. As one displaced resident told Al Jazeera, “They talk about moving us like we are cargo. This is our land. We are not leaving.”

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and other aid groups have reiterated that Palestinians have the right to remain in their homeland and return to their homes under UN Resolution 194, a right Israel continues to deny.

Despite growing backlash, neither the U.S. State Department nor the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office has issued a full public statement detailing the extent of the plan or its intended timeline.
