Despite Video Proof, Israel Stands by Justification for Aid Worker Killings

Israel has formally acknowledged striking a convoy of ambulances in Gaza, but insists the vehicles were transporting Hamas militants. Newly released and verified video evidence from a slain paramedic’s phone now publicly undermines those claims.

Footage, found on one of the phone of one of the deceased medics, shows clearly marked ambulances with flashing lights in a designated humanitarian zone. One video captures paramedics loading injured individuals into an ambulance when a burst of Israeli gunfire cuts them down. In total, 15 were killed: eight from the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), six Civil Defense personnel, and one UN staff member.

The PRCS condemned the strike as a war crime and submitted the footage and testimony to the UN Security Council. Investigators verified the ambulances were marked and active in medical duties. No visible weapons or militant presence was seen in the videos. Still, the IDF maintains its narrative that intelligence indicated militants were inside the vehicles. No evidence has been publicly released to support this claim.

Israel’s initial response had included falsehoods: that the ambulances lacked clear markings or flashing signals. The footage refuted those assertions, showing not only visible markings but active emergency signals.

This strike adds to a pattern documented by human rights groups, who report systematic targeting of medical infrastructure, aid convoys, and shelters across Gaza. In several previous incidents, Israeli officials reversed or softened claims after outside investigations contradicted them.

The international response remains tepid. While humanitarian agencies expressed outrage, most governments issued vague statements. The Trump administration has refused to condemn the strike, instead pointing to Israel’s “operational necessity.”

For survivors and rescue workers in Gaza, there is no ambiguity. Ambulances are being targeted, their crews killed. With hospitals on the brink and no safe evacuation corridors left, Israel’s justifications ring hollow to a population that has seen every lifeline become a bullseye.

Israel has formally acknowledged striking a convoy of ambulances in Gaza, but insists the vehicles were not marked and were transporting Hamas militants. Newly released video evidence, however, exposes this as false.

Footage retrieved from a slain paramedic’s phone, now verified by international outlets including AP and The Times (UK), shows clearly marked ambulances with flashing lights. In the video, emergency responders are tending to a wounded colleague when the vehicles come under sustained fire. At least 15 were killed, including eight members of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), six Civil Defense staff, and one UN worker.

The PRCS has condemned the attack as a war crime and submitted video evidence to the UN Security Council. The footage directly contradicts Israel’s claims that the ambulances were unmarked and being used by militants. No visual confirmation of weapons, militants, or misuse of the medical convoy has been presented.

Despite the clear evidence, the Israeli military continues to claim that the convoy was used to transport Hamas operatives. No supporting proof has been provided.

This is not an isolated incident. Human rights groups and journalists have documented repeated strikes on marked medical vehicles, shelters, and evacuation routes. In many cases, Israel has shifted or withdrawn its narrative after independent verification emerged.

The international response remains muted. While humanitarian organizations have issued strong condemnations, the Trump administration offered no comment, citing Israel’s “right to defend itself.”

As Gaza’s remaining hospitals face collapse, the deliberate targeting of ambulances adds a new layer of brutality. Israel’s justification—disproven by its victims—shows how impunity fuels the erosion of laws meant to protect civilians in war.
